Styled Shoot – A Hidden Gem

A Hidden Gem

A Hidden Gem, rich with beauty.

June the 11th, the sun was beating down and I was on my way to deliver the stationery for my very first shoot. The other side of the county, driving through all the twisty roads I thought that Ms Google Maps was being funny! Then I came to a driveway with huge wooden gates and an intercom! Nervously speaking I explained I was here for the shoot ( I did not know what to expect).

I drove on further through the venue and found the hustle and bustle of beauty being created. I had met Lisa, at a wedding exhibition the previous year and kept in contact, the shoot had been planned by Lisa and Julia, of Julia Moore Floral Designs. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the view from the top of the building, sculptures by the lake simply amazing, the venue was just incredible (visit if you get the chance and see for yourself).

I settled down and spoke to Sadie, who helped me create a flat lay, I love to hear everyone’s take on images so it was fantastic to chat. Sadie, has such a stunning portfolio and really likes to get to know the story behind the subject.

As you will see from the images the florals were just out of this world, all the jewelled colours, very deep and lush, with the backdrop of the lake and the blue sky the moongate looked simply exquisite. Nothing was forgotten with the table flowers, they all complimented and then the model had a matching floral crown which made the whole shoot flow.

Here is a little about the shoot, all the links can be found below. The image has just been featured in Dorset & Hampshire Wedding. If you would like to talk about your wedding stationery please contact me.

The Story behind the shoot

The theme they decided on was opulent, rich jewelled colours, they were thrilled when Sculptor Simon Gudgeon allowed them to use his venue Sculptures by the lake, this made the perfect setting for the Moon Gate, which Julia had wanted an opportunity to create. They wanted to use colours with a punch and decided to use rich purples, deep pinks and emerald greens. The Emerald green is an obvious colour to incorporate as it complimented the rich grass at venue. They chose individual suppliers and incorporated a 2nd cake designer, Cakes by Annette to help create their vision.

Lisa of Lisa Notley Cake Designs decided of all the jewel colours it was an obvious choice for her to pick the emerald green, as its Lisa’s favourite colour. The pink flowers and gold leaf complemented it perfectly. The intricate leaf, flower & bird decoration picked up details from the surrounding countryside. She created a trio of cakes to perfectly compliment the shoot.

Purple velvet and crepe fabrics were introduced to soften the hard edges of the rustic wood used for the tables and benches, napkins tied with emerald green ribbon to compliment the beautiful emerald green Name cards, menu’s and Welcome card by Pastel Designs UK. Charlotte wanted to design the stationery to encompass the opulent pallet that had been created.

The table was styled by Julia Moore Floral Designs using hydrangeas, David Austin Roses, Peonies, Lisianthus, Stock, Dahlia, Grasses, Veronica, Calla lilies and poppy seed heads in different shades of purples, deep pinks and rich greens arranged in glass cube vases with gold and clear glass candlestick with mixed coloured candles in between the flowers. Featuring Gold cutlery by The White Chair Company with white plate, emerald green wine and water glasses with gold/clear wine glasses gave the table a regal feel.

Kirsten Sare makeup Artist created the make-up and chose a beautiful emerald green colour for the model Samantha’s eyes
which looked simply stunning.

Their Bride model Samantha Shapley was dressed in 2 beautiful dresses supplied by Chantelle Pike of Chantelle Sophia bridal the first was Ballet pink dress is a luxurious pure silk crepe back satin, veil is hand embroidered with initials and date and rose gold crystal accessories are all handmade to match the dress. Second short dress is a heavy quality Mikado style pure silk fabric. It has been embellished by hand with hundreds of guipure lace flowers, 3D fabric flowers, crystal beads and pearls. Dress has pockets and built in fully structured corset.

Their groom Model Chris Manning who is an ambassador for Fox Tailoring was wearing a Bateman Ogden luxury Merino 3 piece suit.

Sadie Osborne of Sadie Osborne photography captured the shoot beautifully, using many areas of the venue to create the
stunning photos.
