Styled Shoot – A Midsummers Dream

A Midsummer shoot, 31st of July the magic happened

When I was asked to design stationery for a midsummer styled shoot my creative mind got to thinking. We had a moodboard and a few ideas but what came out was amazing. The group of suppliers that were involved in the shoot were incredible. I used a watercolour design with personal monogram which followed through all of the stationery. The laid paper gave the design the perfect finish of a canvas feel. Contact me if you would like to know more about my designs

The Suppliers

The venue was On The Farm Celebrations, located on the Mendip Hills in Somerset, boasts incredible views across the Mendips and out towards Bristol and Bath. It acts as a blank canvas upon where the couple can create their dream reception. One of the owners, Ali Hood, organised the shoot and after being inundated with responses, she made a selection of the best suppliers to bring the theme to life, and thankfully, she wasn’t disappointed!

A Touch of Wonder are planning, styling and floral specialists for weddings and events with almost 25 years combined experience. Alongside creating the bouquets and head pieces they styled the table and archway backdrop. To reflect the Midsummer Nights Dream theme, they focused primarily on deep pinks, red with heavy foliage and a touch of lighter pinks and lavender to lift the pieces.

‘When we sat down to plan out the table design we said the words moss practically in unison as we’ve been looking for an excuse to work with for ages!’

Little touches of gold created an element of luxe within the styling. This was weaved in through their own gold circle archway and candle sticks on the table scape (from Wedding and Events Prop Hire).

The MUA for the shoot was Karina Scoffield. She covers all aspects of Make Up Artisty, and is based in the south west but loves to travel for shoots and work. This styled shoot enabled her to experiment and create a beautiful, enchanted feminine look with a splash of glitter, whilst making it in keeping the modern Bride of today.

The blusher was a continuing themed throughout all the models with dark shades of pink and added highlighter for an extra but subtle glow. Long luscious lashes, pastel shades of pink and purple with a shimmer of light glitter along bottom lash line created the perfect enchanted bridal look. The lips were kept to shades of shimmery pink with splashes of glitter.

Justyna Superson from Diamond Factory Make Up was our hair stylist for the day. She created a variety of romantic designs with loose braids and soft curls, decorated with flowers and flower crowns.

ChantelleSophia provided 3 beautiful wedding dresses. Offering a bespoke service, she designs your dream wedding dress with you! Specialising in couture made to measure bridal wear lends itself to more unique, comfortable or fun wedding dresses that show the Brides personalities. The dresses for this shoot are a relaxed summer garden vibe using a comfortable crop top with skirt and short silk wedding dresses with pockets. They are hand embellished with 3D floral appliques, lace and a beaded lace hem with off the shoulder detailing.

The confetti was provided by Shropshire Petals, they grow biodegradable petal confetti on their farm. All the petals are natural, eco-friendly and beautiful and perfect for throwing over the newlyweds, decorating the wedding tables or scattering down the aisle. Shropshire Petals offer loose confetti, a variety of display packages, personalised packaging and even a calculator to work out how much couples need to provide for their guests.

We had two mixes of petal confetti; Kaleidoscope (a mixture of pinks, purples and cream delphinium petals) and a bespoke mix put together especially for the shoot, rich in colour with a mixture of delphiniums, cornflowers, hydrangea, and rose petals along with a touch of marjoram. The confetti was showcased in an array of beautifully embossed confetti cones, including Raspberry, Forest Green, Ultra-Violet and Pink. This gave the beautiful front cover image used in Marry in Southwest.

The MacaRoom is a Bristol based company specialising in modern wedding and celebration cakes. They create truly modern cakes through their professional pastry chef experiences. ‘It was an exciting opportunity for us to go to the shoot and show our passion and what we love to do when it comes to cakes!’ They combined mystic colours and textures with summery bright flowers and berries, along with creating beautiful and incredibly yummy macroons!

Juno the Barn Owl and Hank the Hawk were a perfect addition for our Bridal shoot and certainly added a touch of magic. Town and Country Falconry based in Wiltshire have a selection of birds to help make your wedding day extra special, such as a Barn Owl to delivery the wedding rings or a flock of white doves for the newlyweds departure!

The shoot was photographed Aimee Joy Photography & Design. “It was such a treat to be surrounded by so many creative wedding suppliers and capture all the wonderful details of the day. I wanted the photographs to really showcase the richness of the colours used, by photographing a variety of backdrops. The white of the dresses and lush bouquets against the darkness of the stone walls and greenery contrasted beautifully! As a South West based wedding photographer I enjoy creating natural imagery in a unobtrusive way to capture the real story and emotions of your day.”
