A kingfisher Inspired Shoot

Kingfishers are stunning, and so was this shoot.
Holbrook Manor in the baking sunshine, a handfull of wedding suppliers and a theme to wow! This is how we spent a Monday in May. The Kingfisher inspired shoot.
I had been asked by the extremely talented husband and wife duo that is James & Kerrie Photography, to be involved in their very first shoot since moving to the South. A kingfisher shoot. I saw the mood board and was wowed! The colours were very different from what I had been involved in. I wanted to bring a bit of wow stationery to the shoot as it needed something special.
The Stationery
As you will know from the previous shoots I like to be different, I love to use materials that maybe have not been used before or giving fresh ideas to on the day favours. I basically started on the table and worked backward. I had been on holiday in Scotland and we visited the Isle of Skye, there was a little courtyard outlet and a lady had such an interesting shop selling precious stones and other sparkly bits! This piercing blue caught the corner of my eye. Agate, ok it is not cheap but it is stunning and unique, no two pieces are the same, I bought it because I just knew I had to do something with it, the unique colour and beauty needed to be seen. I used them to create placenames.
Kerrie had said to me ‘I need a cake sign’ I didn’t just make one I made 2 the first I thought of was a clock face and it read ‘It’s cake o’clock’ but I didn’t think that it suited this shoot. I opted for a perspex sign with vinyl text and a turquoise paint wash.
The invitation I wanted to go for a delicate and natural look. I combined velum with a laid paper which gives the apperance of a canvas. Held together with a gold rivet, the text throughout was given the gold seal of approval.
If you would like to talk to me about your stationery then please contact me and we can design something beautiful for you.
Magpie Feature
The shoot was well received and has just been published by Magpie. I always love to see our hard work on a feature, have a read and see what you think…
